Silver Spring Man Convicted Of Killing Wife With Buddha Statue, Pillowcase

A Silver Spring man has been found guilty of the murder of his wife that occurred back in 2021, authorities announced.

Reginald Dunlap, 45, was found guilty on Monday, March 13, after the violent slaying of his wife, 40-year-old Lauren Charles, in March 2021, according to the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office.

Charles' was found brutally beaten to death with what police believe was a decorative Buddha statue at the couple's home on March 7, 2021. She had also been found choked with a pillowcase that had been forced down her throat. 

Police believe that after Charles was killed, that bleach was poured on her body to destroy evidence and Dunlap ransacked their bedroom to stage a crime scene. 

Dunlap faces life in prison at his sentencing, which was scheduled for the morning of July 7, 2023.
